OVERVIEW:
Therapy Session
A typical therapy session starts out with a check-in to see how the student is feeling and what is going on with their body. The student will then travel through a body awareness scan to become more aware of themselves and the issues they are facing.
After the body awareness scan, the class is tailored to the student through breath (pranayama), mudras, postures (asana), yoga nidra and meditation. At each point during the session the student is asked to reflect on what is going on in the body so that the class can be as benefitial to the individual student as possible.
Most students see the greatest benefits from Yoga Therapy after 3 sessions, but almost all see remarkable improvements in just one session.
WHAT IS YOGA
THERAPY
Yoga Therapy is Yoga, with a specific focus. Yoga Therapy is an application of the ancient science of yoga that brings balance to the body and mind through an experiential awakening of Spirit, our true nature.
Instead of focusing on the removal of symptoms (as in allopathic medicine), Yoga Therapy sees the process of healing as a way of bringing the entire being into wholeness.
Yoga is a vehicle for wellness, healing and personal transformation. Yoga therapy is being integrated into wellness and stress management programs to meet the needs of people in hospitals, mental health settings, corporations, wellness centers, education, senior care, community centers, the performing arts and athletics as well as in Yoga classes and centers.
Kristine has been trained in the Integrative Yoga Therapy program
established by Joseph LePage (www.iytyogatherapy.com). IYT is based
on a vision of health as a Unity of body, mind and spirit. Yoga is
a vehicle for deepening this experience of Unity and bringing it
into the world as a resource for personal growth, healing and awakening.
